Rhododendron simsii Planch.: It is an evergreen shrub and deciduous shrub of dicotyledonous plant class, Rhododendron family and Rhododendron [1]. Also known as YINGSHANHONG and mountain pomegranate. It is said that in ancient times, there were cuckoos, whistling day and night and hemoptysis, which dyed red flowers all over the mountain, so it was named.

 

 

This species is a famous flower plant with high ornamental value and is cultivated in parks all over the world. In Jiangxi, Anhui and Guizhou, China, Rhododendron is the provincial flower, and there are as many as seven or eight cities designated as the city flower. In May 1985, Rhododendron was rated as the sixth of China's top ten famous flowers. There are more than 900 species of Rhododendron in the world, and the horticultural varieties of Rhododendron are made of Rhododendron simsiiplanch (wild resources) offspring continuously selected by hybridization or budding. Over the past century, there have been nearly 10000 horticultural varieties in the world. From the 1920s to 1930s, China introduced Rhododendron from Japan, Europe, America and other countries for cultivation, and a small number of new varieties were cultivated through hybridization, such as "multicolor imitation Western Rhododendron", "xiaoerqiao", "double petal purple calyx Rhododendron", "zilouchun", "dwarf Yunjin Rhododendron", "hentiangao" and alpine deciduous Rhododendron hybrids "Red Butterfly", "Purple Butterfly", "white butterfly" and other new varieties cultivated in recent years. Rhododendron is divided into "Five" strains: Spring Rhododendron strain, summer Rhododendron strain, West Rhododendron strain, East Rhododendron strain and Alpine Rhododendron strain.
